Healing Mistake Wounds
Many people come to therapy wanting to sort through their feelings because they need to make a big decision in their lives. Therapists can’t give them an answer, because what is best depends on the person making those choices for themselves. However, I like to lean on guidance similar to this bit that coach Bill Walsh shares: "Your path and purpose will become crystal clear when you begin to trust your vision." I help clients by encouraging them to dream. As they dream a bit, they gain more clarity in what they want out of life. Then, we work on self within themselves. Often people become fearful of making mistakes, especially if they’ve made decisions in the past that have ended up hurting them in some way. Healing that wound helps them take what they’ve learned, and be able to still move forward with confidence, trusting themselves to take their new insights forward with them in any new choices that they make.
