Trauma therapy for people-pleasers, perfectionists, and the ridiculously self-aware
You probably already understand why you do what you do, but all of that insight hasn’t been able to change much. You need more than that.
In-Person Mental Health Counseling in Mesa, Arizona
Huh? Trauma Therapy?
But I don’t have trauma…
You didn't start doing these things for no reason.
Overthinking, perfectionism, and people-pleasing are likely ways you've learned to protect something important: connection, belonging, safety, acceptance, or your sense of worth.
Maybe getting things right helped you feel good enough, building up your self-esteem. Keeping other people happy probably helped you feel more secure in your relationships. Thinking through every possible outcome likely made you feel prepared for whatever might go wrong.
So even when you know you don't need to be perfect, keep everyone happy, or prepare for every possibility, some part of you still feels like you do.
That's where trauma therapy comes in. Instead of trying to find the right words to convince you of something you already know, we work on rewiring those inner alarm bells so your reactions become less automatic and you have more room to choose.
I can help
I'm Meagan Ku, a licensed therapist practicing in Mesa, Arizona.
Together, we'll work on more than understanding why these patterns are there. We'll help you loosen their grip, heal what taught you that you needed them, and make more room for what you actually want.
You can still be a kind, responsible, conscientious person AND decide how you want to show it
Who I Help
I specialize in working with perfectionists, people-pleasers, and those struggling with self-worth, boundaries, and the lasting impact of difficult experiences.
I work with teens (12+) and adults, and much of my practice is made up of people who are queer, neurodivergent, chronically ill, and/or healing from past abuse or neglect.
If you've spent your entire life putting others first and still never quite feel like you are “enough,” you're in the right place.
How I Help
I offer a direct, compassionate, and curious space to understand how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Therapy with me is focused and intentional without being rigid.
We'll talk, laugh, problem-solve, notice patterns, and when it makes sense, use trauma therapies like EMDR and ART to work with what's keeping those patterns stuck. What we do together is shaped by you, what you need, and what actually seems to be helping. This is a collaborative process between the two of us.
