Appreciating Life’s Worst Moments

It is hard to recognize something is there unless you have a time without it. This might be like trying to imagine a world without the color orange; maybe some colorblind people would get a closer idea of what that is like, however, they wouldn’t even notice the absence if they’ve been colorblind their entire life. In words of wisdom from Bruce Lee, "If there is always light, you don’t experience light anymore. You have to have the rhythm of light and darkness." The presence and absence of an experience is what helps us notice it. This goes too for happiness. We wouldn’t feel happiness as such if it was always there. Our darkest moments certainly aren’t pleasant to experience, but perhaps there is some gratitude that could be found for them, as they help us appreciate and truly feel joy when it wanders into our life.

"If there is always light, you don’t experience light anymore. You have to have the rhythm of light and darkness."

~ Bruce Lee
