Hard Moments Carry More Than Pain

Generally, I’m an optimist. That doesn’t mean that I don’t think that bad things will happen though. As the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow shared, "Into each life some rain must fall." I know that hardship happens, and that it happens to everyone in some manner. I don’t deny that it hurts, and I acknowledge that some pains hurt more than others. Yet I am certain that the pain doesn’t last forever. I see how the joys of life stay with us too, and in doing so they keep us strong to persevere through the rainstorms. I also don’t see the hardships as only such. They are filled with growth, self-introspection, learning, and appreciation. One can find meaning in life even during the catastrophic moments. Sometimes, finding meaning and connection through life is more valuable than attaining the smiles and delights that one strives for.

"Into each life some rain must fall."

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
