Sharing Your Light to Make the World Brighter

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of anxiety about the future. There is dread expressed, not knowing if others with support us towards a brighter future together. I offer wisdom from Greek Philosopher Plato: "If we are to have any hope for the future, those who have lanterns must pass them on to others." Lanterns could mean many things, but generally, it is any brightness in our own lives. Some people have more monetary resources, so they should gift it to others to build up their communities. Others might have time and skills to offer the world, and so they better it by participating, and teaching others to follow suit. Most of us have bits of laughter or humor within us, love and joy that is easily shared, some fondness for the little things in life, and by expressing those freely, others too can delight in what is around them. By giving back some of that light we have in our lives, we make the world around us feel that much brighter - we have an impact that lasts beyond us.

"If we are to have any hope for the future, those who have lanterns must pass them on to others."

~ Plato
