Rejecting the Game of Perfectionism
I’ve seen this shirt that says, “I’m cringe, but I’m free”, and I’ve thought it hilarious, and that it suits me so well. You see, when you embrace what makes you weird or imperfect, nothing can hurt you. You are no longer hiding away in fear of others’ judgements. Like American Rapper LaCrae put it, "There is more freedom confessing our weaknesses and shortcomings than in pretending we have it all together.” There is a massive burden lifted from one’s shoulders when you can live life without fear. You don’t need to pretend that you are perfect, because none of us are. It reminds me of the childhood advice that the best way to win an unfair game is to not play it. By rejecting the need to appear infallible, you exited the game that so many people are stuck playing. You can finally live life limitless.
