Frequently Asked Questions

  • I don’t accept insurance. This means I’m considered out-of-network. Many of my clients still use their insurance benefits (if their plan has out-of-network coverage) by submitting claims for reimbursement. I can provide superbills to make that process easier. I also partner with Thrizer, a service that can file claims for you and reduce your upfront costs once you’ve met your deductible. If you are looking to use out-of-network benefits, or just want help understanding them, talk to me about it, I’m happy to clarify how it all works.

  • I reserve a portion of my caseload for reduced-rate sessions, because I believe therapy should be accessible. If we’re a good fit but the full fee feels out of reach, I encourage you to ask about starting at a reduced rate.

  • The 45-minute session is great for ongoing support and talk-therapy. This is what most people receive when they attend therapy.

The 75-minute session gives more breathing room for deeper work, especially for trauma processing. Most of my clients choose this option, because they feel like they are getting twice as much out of it, just by being able to process the feeling in the moment, rather than having to wait until the next appointment.

Half-day intensives (3+ hours) are designed for focused work on specific issues, often using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and can sometimes include couples or family members. This can be a really helpful format for someone who knows they won’t be in Arizona much longer, has a changing schedule, or who have specific isolated traumas to process.

  • I do offer virtual sessions, but I will note that for Accelerated Resolution Therapy, it is preferable to be in-person for that therapeutic modality. And sandtray work is something I only do in-person as well. Some of my clients prefer to alternate sessions online and in-person, so that way they don’t always need to come out to Mesa since they live further away, but they still get the benefit of those modalities for healing.

  • That really depends on your needs. Many people start with weekly sessions, and then shift to biweekly as they gain tools and confidence. Others start out with therapy sessions every other week, appreciating the pacing of meeting twice monthly. Then there are some people who prefer and benefit from monthly intensives when consistent weekly sessions aren’t realistic. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that works for you.

  • I primarily work with teens (12+) and adults. While I have experience working with younger children, I find that they work best using play and other creative measures, and my office space isn’t set up for that. If your child is younger than 12 and you feel they might still be a good fit, reach out and we can talk about whether it’s the right match.

  • While most of my work is with individuals, I do work with couples and family members in ART intensives when the focus is on healing shared painful experiences or relational wounds.

  • The best way is to start with a free 15-minute consultation. It gives us both a chance to talk through what you’re hoping for, what I offer, and whether it feels like a good match before committing. I’m an open book, so ask whatever questions you need in order to feel safe moving forward with me.

  • Simply reach out for a free consultation. We’ll talk about what you’re looking for, I’ll answer your questions, and we’ll decide together whether working with me feels like the right next step.
